Women's wear
The Marks and Spencer Spring line 2010 for women features both ultra feminine and military trends in five different ranges with multiple styles to choose from.
The Boudoir collections has a flirty, sexy look - a complete contrast to hard-edged 80's styling, with shoulder pads giving way to gentle ruffles and frills. There is a vintage feel in the look that is enhanced by the colour palette of nudes, pinks, ivories, pale lilacs and greys.
The Sports Luxe collection has a look that is influenced by sportswear with a tinge of the 90's dancewear. The feel is relaxed but grown-up, with easy layering and mismatched proportions and the key colours are white, grey marl, silver, yellow and poppy red. Shorts feature heavily in this collection and the consumer can choose from balloon shorts or easier to wear culottes' style shorts. It is the Uniform collection that follows the military story. The new garment for the season is what is called a 'tregging', i.e. a legging that looks like a trouser worn with lots of accessories - jewellery, baubles and bangles. And, the Tribal Warrior collection mixes tribal influences with metallic embellishments, giving it a sexy edge that is softened by the use of soft, draped jersey pieces. The 'warrior' trend is expressed in the use of bronze and antique finishes, rather than in the silhouette that is softer and more feminine this season.
The romance of the season of spring is epitomised in the Romance collection that is nostalgic and romantic. Fragile pales, delicate ruffles, summer florals and lightweight sheers combine with both clean tailoring and 70's washed denim. There's a prairie look to key pieces such as the flowered dress with a lace top and dark brown florals. The key colours are delicate pastels, chalky mid-tones, pinks, lemons, lilacs and white.
Lingerie
From Bodice to Basques and Bandeaus, you can create your look with a mix of womenswear and Lingerie to be totally up-to-date with current trends. Hot new items that are destined to become wardrobe essentials include pretty layering camisoles; stylish slip bandeau bras; and modern shaping big knickers and bodies. Vintage lingerie looks provide the inspiration, but the modern twist comes from new technologies and comfortable, lightweight fabrics.
All this and much more make Marks and Spencer a preferred destination for lingerie for women. This season the brand brings to its discerning customer three different ranges to choose from. The Romance collection has a look that is bold and flirty, with cheeky red and blacks, and elsewhere, the look is softened with beautiful pinks and prints that are inspired by Spanish roses. The Bridal look, has a softly vintage touch and combine super fragile Chantilly lace and silk. The hottest and fastest growing knicker shape is the Brazilian, which combines comfort with a cheekier silhouette than you'll find in the boy short.
The perfect fit bras offer exclusive styles available in push-up, non-wired and DD+, enabling every woman to build a wardrobe of Perfect Fit bras that suit her individual style, while the colours in lingerie focus on four key palettes:
- Optimistic brights for the customer looking for fun, fashion and high impact colour.
- Romantic pale and cosmetic tones.
- Blues and Aquas, a growing trend
- White returns as a key lingerie and sleepwear must-have
The
Limited Collection brings a range of fashion forward lingerie reflecting the season's key trends and silhouettes and features a mixture of quirky prints and plains in soft cotton jersey and silk mixes adorning nightdresses, cropped leggings, smock tops, bras, knickers and short and vest separates. The Per Una collection is feminine and fashionable offering young, fresh, sassy fashion styles in bright colours and prints. The basics offer everyday style in the season's colours, whilst coordinated packs offer trend-led fashion looks.
Menswear
The collection for spring 2010 for men focuses on luxurious essentials and unique designs to combine casual and formal pieces at great prices. As for women, men too get a diverse range of styles from different collections to choose their look from. The Riviera collection has a look that combines the essence of British style with a modern edge. Packed with elegant, high quality and stylishly designed wardrobe staples for this season, this collection is all about mixing and matching, with chinos, or smartening up a basic polo shirt by teaming it with tailored trousers. The fabrics for the season include linen and cotton and the main colours are pastels, monochrome, new neutrals and pop brights.
An extension of the Riviera collection is the Blue Harbour collection that combines easy to wear casual pieces with simple details and classic styling and a strong use of colour with cool, comfortable and relaxed designs. And, the Autograph collection is characterized by a modern attitude to dressing, offering a choice of accessible, contemporary looks across formal and casual wear.
The Autograph collection is further complemented by the Tailoring collection which is a comprehensive range that mixes style with practicality.
Kidswear
While the mothers and the fathers get a chance to spruce up their wardrobes this spring, why should kids be left behind? This spring Marks and Spencer launches Indigo. Indigo will group together co-ordinated casual wear pieces, along with the existing Girls Limited and Autograph collections, making it easier to shop for complete outfits for little boys and girls.
Girlswear collection for the season takes inspiration from the catwalk with hints of pink gingham as well as tropical prints, chic European neutrals and modern boho looks. The Limited collection for older girls gets a revamp and continues to draw on 80s dance trends; while the Holiday Shop collection features denim shorts and fringed Ts, applique jeans and jewelled belts, so that every girl can have a fashionable holiday.
Also a part of the range this season is the collection known as Tropicana, where the look is bright and bold, but still sophisticated. It comprises styles such as the fabulous parrot sundress and the skirted swimsuit. While Riviera for girls draws on nautical influences with red and blue in hearts, spots and stripes with key garments that include a red and white striped cardigan with navy patch pocket, and a gorgeous blue and white polka-dot top with red and white polka dot neckline.
It is the Homespun collection that ties in with Romance in womenswear and picks up on the 'make do and mend' trend. There are a lot of ditsy florals and patchwork effects on the garments for an easy-to-wear, casual but trendy look. The Tribal collection comprises bright colours and pretty embroideries.
The Boyswear collection features crisp, preppy looks based on a palette of neutrals with highlights of mint and soft blue as well as cool surf-inspired pieces characterised by floral and striped prints on a base of blue and orange. The looks for the season include funky long shorts, fun dinosaur and elephant Ts and functional cargo trousers. Mixing florals with stripes, checks and plains creates a brand new and trendy look for spring.
Home
Marks and Spencer hosts a large collection for home decor. The emphasis on the homemade, crafted look continues this season and it’s all about the idea of 'improving, not moving', and of updating your look with accessories and new colours. Three-dimensional effects feature widely this season along with embellishments such as sequins, pompoms and beading.
The key look for the season revolves around the In Bloom collection that gives fantastic florals a new twist for spring. The look is mixed with patterned pieces in sequinned hound's-tooth and stripes to make it perfectly up-to-date, and the key factor is lots and lots of colour.
Other great buys include the lacquered Tableware range, a stunning pink iridescent platter and outsized candles. We build on our range of storm lanterns, which come in all sizes and should ideally be grouped together to create an eye-catching effect.
